Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. –H.L. Mencken
In preparation to watch the State of the Union address tonight, I put Thom (pronounced with a lisp) Hartmann’s “The Big Picture” on RT on while playing some ping pong with my son. The always progressive Hartmann was talking about college athletes in one of the most ridiculous interviews I’ve ever seen.
Thom had as his guest some “expert” on college athletics who informed us how awful it is that college athletes don’t get paid and how much the colleges and universities earn off of them and how they’re going to need a union so they don’t get exploited by the awful capitalists. I know he was an expert because Thom put that below his name. That name, however, escapes me at the moment.
Thom then asked the expert whether he would allow his children to play college football, as if this question has any relevance to whether student athletes should be paid or need to unionize.
Finally, the expert slipped up by accidentally admitting that in his Marxist utopia, the college football quarterbacks would have to make more money than the other players because they bring in a bigger share of the loot.
If that wasn’t enough to get you ready, here’s a SOTU drinking game, care of the no-holds-barred Ben Swann.
